A 43-year-old Bartica man, Asif Bacchus, was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to narcotics trafficking in Bartica Magistrate’s Court on February 13, 2026.
The conviction stemmed from possession of drugs with intent to traffic under Guyana’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The hearing was held via Zoom before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir.
