A rare giant phantom jellyfish, with a bell up to one meter wide and arms reaching ten meters, was filmed at 250 meters depth off Argentina’s coast during a February expedition led by Argentine scientists aboard the FALKOR vessel. The discovery, part of a broader deep-sea survey, revealed extensive cold seep areas over one square kilometer, 28 potential new species, and rich marine biodiversity. Researchers also found significant pollution, including abandoned fishing nets and plastic debris with a Korean label, highlighting global waste impacts in remote ocean regions.
