A 21-year-old man, Conor Labrow, was sentenced for causing a serious crash in Dorset in September 2023, where his car flipped six times after reportedly speeding at 80mph on a 50mph road.
The crash, which occurred on a narrow, unlit stretch with warning signs, left four passengers injured, including a woman who needed surgery for a broken wrist and concussion.
Labrow, who had passed his test months earlier, was caught speeding again less than a year later.
He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving and received a suspended sentence, 300 hours of unpaid work, £1,000 in costs, and a two-year driving ban with an extended re-test.
Judge Robert Pawson condemned his selfish behavior and near-fatal recklessness.
