A woman died in a Feb. 5, 2026, crash in Rapid City after a police pursuit, during which no one was wearing seatbelts.

A 22-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Rapid City on February 5, 2026, following a police pursuit. Troopers initiated the chase after a 2012 Jeep Liberty was stopped for lacking a license plate and failed to comply. The vehicle collided with an oncoming Ford F-350 at an intersection, injuring four people in the Jeep—two adults and two minors—and the Ford’s driver. The woman, a passenger in the Jeep, succumbed to her injuries. All occupants were not wearing seatbelts. The Jeep driver and one passenger are facing charges, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.
