Two men received life sentences for a thwarted ISIS-inspired attack plot targeting Manchester’s Jewish community, foiled in 2024.
Two men, Walid Saadaoui, 38, and Amar Hussein, 52, were sentenced to life in prison for plotting an Islamic State-inspired mass attack on Manchester’s Jewish community, which authorities say could have been the deadliest terror incident in UK history.
Convicted in December 2025, they were found guilty of preparing terrorist acts involving automatic firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, with plans to target a public gathering.
The plot was foiled in May 2024 when Saadaoui was arrested during a weapons handover arranged with an undercover officer posing as a sympathizer.
A third man, Bilel Saadaoui, was sentenced to six years for failing to report the plot.
The case highlights the threat of homegrown extremism and the effectiveness of counter-terrorism operations.
