SEL starts construction on a $50M Idaho plant to make grid protection gear, hiring 1,000 by 2027.
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has started site prep for a $50 million, 250,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Moscow, Idaho, set for completion by late 2027.
The facility, south of its existing PCB factory, will produce grid protection equipment and is expected to employ about 1,000 people.
It will use a closed-loop water system to minimize environmental impact, consistent with SEL’s other U.S. facilities.
Construction begins in early summer 2026, with hiring phased in starting summer 2027.
