Israel’s bobsled team, led by Orthodox Jew AJ Edelman, debuts at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan after overcoming setbacks.
Israel’s bobsled team, led by Orthodox Jewish athlete Adam “AJ” Edelman, is making its Olympic debut at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan, becoming the first Israeli team to compete in the sport.
Edelman, who previously represented Israel in skeleton at the 2018 Olympics, is the first Orthodox Jew to compete in the Winter Games and the first Israeli to qualify in two sports.
The team, which includes Israel’s first Druze Olympian, faced setbacks including a robbery in the Czech Republic and limited training time, but qualified in late January.
They are set to compete in two-man and four-man bobsled events, aiming to inspire Jewish and Israeli athletes worldwide.
