India launches domestic waterjet facility in Goa, boosting indigenization and reducing foreign dependence.
India has launched its first domestic waterjet propulsion production and testing facility in Goa, becoming the third country—after the U.S. and South Korea—to achieve this capability.
The Indian Coast Guard, led by DG Paramesh Sivamani, inaugurated the site under a technology transfer deal with Sweden’s MJP AB, enabling local production of over 100 waterjets already in use and 42 more planned for new vessels.
The move supports India’s indigenisation goals, reduces reliance on foreign suppliers, and strengthens domestic supply chains.
The facility also advances the development of six indigenous air cushion vehicles by Chowgule & Company, with 50% local content, set for delivery by May 2026.
