Former UL president Kerstin Mey seeks court injunction to block reinvestigation into her Dáil testimony, citing prior settlement and lack of university authority.
Former University of Limerick president Kerstin Mey is seeking a High Court injunction to block a reinvestigation into allegations she misled the Dáil Public Accounts Committee or prior investigators. The move follows her 2024 resignation under a settlement that barred disciplinary action, after scrutiny over the university’s €12.4 million 2022 purchase of a housing development in Rhebogue, later valued at €6.5 million. Mey faced questions over her chief corporate officer’s absence at a May 2023 PAC hearing, though she claimed he had a prior commitment. An initial investigation found no wrongdoing. However, in May 2025, the university announced a reinvestigation over alleged inconsistent statements, prompting legal action. Mey’s team argues the university lacks authority to reopen the case, and a court has granted temporary protection from the reinvestigation, with a hearing set for February 17, 2026.
