Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, 83, said working with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein was the hardest part of his career, calling him a dishonest, rude "pig" who broke contracts and lied constantly, despite acknowledging Weinstein’s sharp eye for independent films.
Eisner, who acquired Miramax in 1993 for $70 million, said he wouldn’t repeat the deal knowing the risks, though it produced hits like *Chicago* and *Gangs of New York*.
Weinstein, serving a 16-year sentence after a 2022 California rape conviction, was also convicted in New York in 2020, though that was overturned; a 2025 retrial resulted in one conviction and a hung jury on another charge.
Eisner, who stepped down in 2005, also expressed skepticism about AI replacing human creativity in film, saying machines can’t match originality or emotional depth in groundbreaking stories.
