On February 13, 2026, the Kyiv Classic Orchestra performed a concert at Kyiv’s main railway station between air-raid alerts, playing music by Hulak-Artemovsky, Mozart, and Gershwin.
The event, part of a U.S.-Ukrainian solidarity project, aimed to boost morale amid ongoing war, power outages, and harsh winter conditions.
The station, transformed into a shelter and charging hub, hosted the performance led by conductor Herman Makarenko with nine string players.
Attendees, including locals and refugees, paused for the music, which organizers called “medicine for the soul.” The concert is the first in a planned series highlighting cultural resilience during Ukraine’s prolonged conflict.
