A 14-year-old boy from Uzbekistan, suffering from end-stage heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy, recovered after becoming the youngest and first child in India to receive a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) at Artemis Hospital in Gurugram. Facing no treatment options in his home country and a long transplant wait, doctors implanted the mechanical pump to support his failing heart. Within days, his organ function improved, allowing him to walk and climb stairs. He was eventually discharged and is expected to return home and resume normal life.
