A UK prison officer was jailed for eight months for illegal romantic contact with a life-sentenced inmate, including a FaceTime call, after a hidden phone was found.
A former 21-year-old prison officer, Ellis Eyles, was sentenced to eight months in prison for illegally communicating with Mitchell Ingham, a life-sentenced inmate at HMP Deerbolt, including romantic messages and a 37-minute FaceTime call.
The unauthorized contact, uncovered after a hidden iPhone was found in another inmate’s cell, violated prison rules and raised security concerns.
Eyles, who admitted to aiding Ingham’s unauthorized phone use and disclosing sensitive information, was prosecuted for misconduct in public office.
Ingham, convicted at 15 for fatally stabbing Dominic Doyle in 2016, received an additional nine months for the phone violation.
