The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking new leads in the 1980 double murder of Estella Salinas, 31, and her 14-year-old son Andrew, found strangled near Houston’s White Oak Bayou and Pinemont Bridge on Christmas Day.
Last seen in a blue 1972 Mercury Cougar near a McDonald’s on Cavalcade Street and US-59, the car was later found near the Eastex Freeway with keys and personal items still inside.
Despite years of investigation, no arrests have been made.
Now, using modern DNA technology, the Houston Police Department and Texas Rangers are re-examining evidence.
A $6,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest, provided it’s reported before the next Texas Rangers cold case feature.
Authorities urge the public to come forward through official channels.
