Nova Scotia is set to release the final study on the CAT ferry service between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor, Maine, soon after receiving an economic impact report from 21FSP.
The study, launched in 2023 with a progress update in October 2024, aims to guide future decisions on the route, which operates seasonally from mid-May to mid-October.
The province extended the service through 2026 with operator Bay Ferries.
Public Works Minister Fred Tilley highlighted goals to maximize benefits for Nova Scotia, including using a Canadian flag, hiring local crews, and supporting regional businesses.
The ferry carried nearly 40,000 passengers in 2025, a 19% drop from 2024, largely due to reduced Canadian travel to the U.S.
