Nigerian VP Shettima attends AU Summit in Addis Ababa to advance water, sanitation, and regional cooperation under Agenda 2063.
Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Addis Ababa on February 12, 2026, to represent Nigeria at the 39th African Union Summit, themed “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.” He will attend high-level sessions and bilateral meetings to strengthen regional ties, alongside cabinet ministers and officials.
The summit, set for February 14–15, also features Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who will participate in climate and leadership events, including a handover of the AU chairmanship from Angola to Burundi.
The gathering focuses on water security, sanitation, and development under Agenda 2063, with leaders advancing cooperation on governance, economic integration, and health initiatives.
