Morocco has allocated 3 billion dirhams ($330 million) to aid recovery after severe floods in its northwestern regions, displacing 188,000 people and flooding over 110,000 hectares of farmland.
The government declared affected communes in Larache, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane disaster zones following King Mohammed VI’s directive.
Funds will support housing, business rebuilding, farmer and livestock breeder aid, and repairs to roads and hydro-agricultural systems.
The floods resulted from record rainfall, snowmelt, and dam overflows, including the Oued Makhazine dam, which reached 160% capacity.
National dam levels rose to 69.4%, ending a seven-year drought.
Emergency operations included evacuations, rescue missions, and infrastructure repairs.
