A 4-meter-tall fondant Pegasus sculpture, made from over a ton of edible sugar paste, has been unveiled in Shanghai’s Lujiazui district as part of celebrations for the Year of the Horse.
Created by artist Zhou Yi, known as the “sugar king,” the artwork took four months and a five-person team to complete using traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques.
Inspired by the ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing, it blends classical mythology with modern anime aesthetics to appeal to younger audiences.
