Mathew Samson, a 41-year-old candidate for the Marshfield School Board, faces new felony charges alleging two incidents of sexual contact with a child under 12 between May 2022 and November 2023.
The victim, under 10 at the time, came forward after Samson was jailed in February on separate charges of child abuse and domestic abuse, including kicking a child and threatening others with a gun.
Samson appeared in court on the new charges, remains in jail on a $500,000 bond, and is scheduled for a hearing on March 2.
A conviction would disqualify him from holding public office under Wisconsin law.
He is on the ballot for the upcoming school board primary.
