Human rights groups demand Nepal release the probe report on the 2025 Gen Z protests that killed 76, mostly from police shootings.
Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and the International Commission of Jurists are urging Nepal’s interim government, led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, to release the Commission of Inquiry report on the September 2025 “Gen Z” protests, which left at least 76 dead, mostly from unlawful police shootings.
The report, along with all previously unpublished human rights investigations, including those from past commissions, should be made public to end a culture of impunity.
The inquiry’s deadline was extended past the March 5, 2026, election due to political and security concerns.
Advocates stress that all parties must commit to transitional justice, especially for abuses during the 1996–2006 conflict, to ensure accountability and reform.
