GE Aerospace boosts jet engine repairs in Singapore using robots and AI, cutting turnaround time nearly in half.
GE Aerospace is deploying robots and Lean manufacturing at its Singapore hub to tackle a growing jet engine repair backlog, investing up to $300 million to expand automation, AI, and digital tools.
The effort aims to boost repair volume by 33% without expanding space, cut repair times in half, and reduce reliance on skilled labor by automating tasks like blending compressor blades.
The facility is also preparing to service newer LEAP engines.
The initiative, part of GE’s “Flight Deck” strategy, targets reducing turnaround from 40 to 21 days for some components, supporting both aging fleets and new aircraft production amid rising air travel demand.
