A Florida pickleball match turned violent, resulting in felony charges for a couple who attacked an older opponent.

A pickleball game at a Florida country club escalated into a physical fight involving up to 20 people, leading to the arrest of Anthony Sapienza, 63, and his wife Julianne Sapienza, 51, on felony battery charges. The altercation began during a match between two couples over a disputed shot in the "kitchen" zone, followed by verbal exchanges and attacks after the game. Authorities said Anthony struck a 65-year-old opponent in the face with a paddle and punched him while on the ground, while Julianne joined the fight. Both were charged with battery on a person 65 or older, with Anthony also facing aggravated battery charges. They were released after posting bail and are scheduled for a court appearance on March 3.
