Racing in challenging, foggy conditions at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Brignone posted the fastest time of 1:23.41, finishing ahead of France’s Romane Miradoli and Austria’s Cornelia Huetter, both earning their first Olympic medals.
The difficult course caused 17 of 43 starters to fail to finish, including top skiers Sofia Goggia and Ester Ledecka.
