The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles has opened a new exhibition dedicated to Hayao Miyazaki’s 2008 film "Ponyo," featuring original artwork, storyboards, and interactive installations gifted by Studio Ghibli.
Spanning over 350 square meters, the exhibit immerses visitors in the film’s underwater world with wave-like structures, a replica of the boy Sosuke’s bucket, and animation stations where families can create short sequences.
Inspired by "The Little Mermaid," the story follows a magical goldfish girl who becomes human.
The display, open from February 14, 2026, through January 2027, emphasizes hand-drawn artistry and fluid motion, aiming to inspire young visitors to explore filmmaking and art, with free admission for children under 17.
