Kazakhstan aims to boost rail transit to 40 million tons in 2026 with new projects and upgrades.
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has set a target for Kazakhstan’s national railway company to handle at least 40 million tons of transit cargo in 2026, up from over 33 million tons in 2025.
He also ordered the launch of two new railway projects—Moyynty-Kyzylzhar and Darbaza-Maktaaral—by year-end, along with modernization of key rail sections to boost Kazakhstan’s role as a Central Asian transit hub.
