India opens consulate in Sabah, boosting trade and tourism under Malaysia-India partnership.
India has opened a consulate in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, marking a diplomatic milestone endorsed by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The move, seen as a boost to trade, investment, tourism, and regional cooperation, is expected to attract 30,000 to 45,000 additional Indian tourists annually and add around RM100 million to Sabah’s economy.
