India extends deadline for joint committee reviewing higher education reform bill.
India’s Lok Sabha has extended the deadline for a 31-member joint parliamentary committee reviewing the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan (VBSA) Bill to the first day of the last week of the Monsoon session.
The bill, aligned with the NEP 2020, aims to replace multiple higher education regulators with a single apex body and separate functions for accreditation, funding, and standards.
The committee, chaired by D Purandeshwari, was formed after the bill’s introduction during the Winter session.
A related extension was also approved for the Jan Vishwas Bill committee, pushing its report deadline to March 13.
The move follows disruptions, including BJP protests, as lawmakers continue reviewing the proposed reforms to India’s higher education governance.
India prolonga la fecha límite para que el comité conjunto revise el proyecto de ley de reforma de la educación superior.
