Dublin plans to pedestrianise College Green by 2030, expanding walkable space and greenery with €80M upgrades.
Dublin City Council has unveiled plans to pedestrianise College Green by 2030, transforming the area into a greener, safer public space through the €80 million “Grow College Green” project.
Construction is set to begin by late 2027, with completion expected by 2029.
The redesign, shaped by 18 months of public engagement including over 2,800 submissions, will extend pedestrian access from Trinity College to Dame Street and George’s Street, while allowing buses, taxis, and the Luas to continue operating.
Delivery vehicles will have limited morning access.
The project includes new trees, cycling infrastructure, climate-adaptive planting, and nature-based drainage.
Public consultation runs until March 11, 2026, on Engage.ie, with final plans to be submitted for approval later this year.
