Andrew Ranken, the founding drummer and longtime member of the Celtic punk band The Pogues, has died at 72.
Known as "The Clobberer," he joined in 1983 and played on all seven of the band’s studio albums, contributing to hits like "Fairytale of New York" and "Dirty Old Town."
He remained with the group through their initial breakup in 1996, rejoined for their 2001 reunion, and performed until their final dissolution in 2014.
