AIMIM's Owaisi criticized India's 2026 budget, citing falling Muslim education enrollment and stalled scholarships, while warning of threats to sovereignty from U.S. trade pressure.
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the 2026 Union Budget in the Lok Sabha, citing declining Muslim enrollment in education and a drop in higher education representation from 5.45% to 4.64% between 2019-20 and 2020-21, resulting in a loss of 179,000 students.
He blamed government prejudice for high dropout rates and said three scholarship schemes have been stalled for five years.
Owaisi also condemned the government’s silence on a U.S. threat to impose a 25% tariff on Indian imports if India buys Russian oil, warning it undermines sovereignty and risks India’s industrial base through trade deals with the U.S. and EU.
