Kenya’s Cabinet has approved a Sh4.7 trillion budget for 2026/27, with Sh495.7 billion allocated to county governments, including Sh420 billion as an equitable share and Sh15.2 billion for the Equalisation Fund, plus an additional Sh75.7 billion proposed under a separate bill.
The budget, themed “Accelerating Gains under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” prioritizes education, health, infrastructure, and climate-smart investments.
Projected revenues are Sh3.5 trillion, with GDP growth forecast at 5.3% in 2026.
The budget will be submitted to Parliament and includes a 12-month moratorium on loan principal repayments and tax relief for low- and middle-income earners.
