Italian qualifier Elisabetta Cocciaretto upset fourth-seeded Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the Qatar Open, marking Gauff’s first match since her Australian Open quarterfinal exit. Cocciaretto, ranked 57th and entered due to McCartney Kessler’s withdrawal, saved four of five break points and credited her focus on the Winter Olympics for her performance.
