A 62-year-old Hindu businessman, Susen Chandra Sarkar, was fatally stabbed inside his shop in Trishal, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, on February 9, 2026, just days before the country’s general election.
Authorities reported the attack occurred around 11 p.m., with assailants fleeing after closing the shop’s shutters and stealing money.
His body was found by family members, and he was declared dead at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Police have not identified suspects or determined a motive.
The killing adds to a series of recent attacks on religious minorities, including a December 2025 lynching in the same district, raising concerns about rising communal violence and safety ahead of the election.
