Jos Buttler hailed 14-year-old Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the best player he’s ever seen after Sooryavanshi scored a record 175 off 80 balls in the Under-19 World Cup final, leading India to a 100-run victory and their sixth title.
The innings featured 15 fours and 15 sixes, the most in a single U19 World Cup match, and earned Sooryavanshi Player of the Tournament honors for his 439 runs in the tournament.
He also became the youngest IPL centurion and youngest to score a century in men’s List A cricket, while setting the fastest century in U19 ODIs.
His achievements earned him India’s top youth award, the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.
Buttler praised Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary talent at such a young age and expressed confidence in his future despite questions about sustaining early success.
