A 15-year-old boy, ineligible for public identification, is set to be sentenced for the January 21, 2025, murder of 12-year-old Leo Ross, a Birmingham schoolboy stabbed in a random attack near Shire Country Park.
The teen, 14 at the time, pleaded guilty to murder, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possessing a bladed weapon.
Police found the murder weapon in the River Cole and said the suspect had previously targeted women in local parks, falsely claimed to have discovered the body, and was seen riding a bike.
The attack was unprovoked and random, with no prior connection between the victim and suspect.
The sentencing hearing, expected to last all day, is before Mr Justice Choudhury KC.
