Trenchers seeks alcohol licence for new Lake District restaurant opening in spring 2026.
Trenchers, a fish and chip chain with locations in Whitby and Whitley Bay since the 1980s, is seeking an alcohol licence for its new Lake District restaurant in Bowness near Windermere Lake Cruises, set to open in late spring 2026.
The £1 million expansion will replace The Boatman’s Café and create 50 jobs.
The application requests permission to serve alcohol from 10 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and Saturdays, and noon to 11:30 p.m. on Sundays.
The menu will include traditional fish and chips along with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options upon request, and the company emphasizes sustainability through oil recycling and eliminating single-use plastics.
Public comments on the licence are accepted until March 5, 2026.
