A New York trooper was injured when a driver struck his parked, lit patrol car in Lancaster, marking the second such incident on the Thruway in two weeks.
A New York State trooper was injured Saturday morning in Lancaster when a Kia sedan lost control and struck a parked patrol car with emergency lights on, pushing it into the officer, who was thrown into the snow. The 22-year-old driver, Emily Elizabeth Lopez-Rangel of Batavia, was cited for traffic violations and showed no signs of impairment. The trooper was treated and released. This marks the second time in two weeks a trooper has been struck on the Thruway. Over 2,500 violations of New York’s Move Over Law were ticketed on the Thruway in 2025.
