Freshman guard Mikel Brown Jr. scored a career-high 45 points, including 10 three-pointers, to set a new Atlantic Coast Conference freshman single-game scoring record and tie Wes Unseld’s 1967 Louisville school record in a 118-77 victory over North Carolina State.
Brown, who had been inconsistent since returning from a back injury, finished 14 of 23 from the field and 10 of 16 from beyond the arc, adding nine rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Ryan Conwell added 31 points, and Louisville shot 60% overall and 60% from three, scoring 100+ for the sixth time this season.
The win ended N.C. State’s six-game winning streak, as the Wolfpack shot just 18.2% from three and were outrebounded 42-28.
