Israel temporarily barred six unvaccinated children from kindergarten in Samaria on Feb. 10, 2026, due to measles exposure and a high infection risk.
Israel has temporarily removed six unvaccinated children from kindergartens in the Samaria settlement of Emanuel after a measles exposure, citing public health laws and a 90% infection risk for unvaccinated individuals.
The move, effective February 10, 2026, applies to children exposed to a confirmed case who didn’t receive post-exposure vaccination within 72 hours.
The outbreak, which began in April 2025, has caused nearly 2,900 confirmed cases, 14 child deaths, and 20 hospitalizations, including 10 in intensive care.
Health officials stress that vaccination within 72 hours of exposure is highly effective and that excluding unvaccinated children from group settings helps protect vulnerable populations.
The exclusion is temporary and subject to weekly review.
