Former Maine gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler, 79, was arrested on February 9, 2026, in South Portland after allegedly violating probation for the third time in five months.
Maine State Police detained him at a hotel during a separate investigation, citing breaches of strict probation conditions, including bans on internet and electronic device use, following his 2023 conviction for possessing child sexual abuse material.
Cutler, who was released early in January 2024, had previously been accused of violating probation in November and December 2025, including accessing explicit content and using unauthorized devices.
He remains in custody at Cumberland County Jail without bail, with a court hearing scheduled for later in February.
