Dylan McMahon sentenced to 12 years for brutal 2022 attack on ex-partner in Ireland.
Dylan McMahon, 31, of Kildare, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for rape, aggravated sexual assault, false imprisonment, and threats to kill after attacking his former partner in Moore Abbey Woods in July 2022.
The court heard he forced dog feces, sticks, and leaves into her mouth, told her he had dug her grave, and assaulted her repeatedly.
McMahon, who has 36 prior convictions and was already serving time, does not accept the verdict.
Judge Patrick McGrath cited the prolonged, degrading nature of the abuse and the victim’s harrowing impact statement, reducing a potential 15-year sentence due to McMahon’s traumatic brain injury and mental health issues.
The sentence runs consecutively, with two years suspended under strict conditions including probation and abstinence from alcohol and drugs.
Legal aid was extended for a possible appeal.
