The DIV Fund, a revived development program, launches with $48M in private donations to fund evidence-based projects previously supported by USAID.
The Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) program, formerly part of USAID and eliminated during the Trump administration’s foreign aid cuts, has relaunched as the independent nonprofit DIV Fund with $48 million in private donations.
The fund will award about $25 million annually—roughly half of its former government budget—to support low-cost, high-impact development projects using evidence-based methods like randomized controlled trials.
It has already committed $20 million to former grantees and plans an open call for new applications, aiming to sustain critical development work disrupted by the 2023 U.S. foreign aid freeze.
While collaborating with institutions like the World Bank, its future relationship with the U.S. government remains uncertain.
