The British Museum has acquired the £3.5 million Tudor Heart pendant, discovered in 2019 by a metal detectorist in Warwickshire, linking it to Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon.
Believed made around 1518 to mark their daughter Mary’s betrothal to the French heir, the gold artifact bears the Tudor rose, pomegranate, and "tousiors" meaning "always."
Funded through a public campaign with over 45,000 donors and major grants, including £1.75 million from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the museum will formally add it to its collection and may tour it across the UK.
