A 22-year-old full-time national serviceman was arrested in Singapore for allegedly making a false bomb threat online on January 23, 2026, claiming improvised explosive devices were placed at 12 locations at Paya Lebar Air Base and in vehicles used by senior Republic of Singapore Air Force officers.
The threat was confirmed to be a hoax after extensive security sweeps.
The suspect, who acted alone, has been under close arrest since January 28 at a Singapore Armed Forces detention barracks and may face charges carrying up to seven years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
The Ministry of Defence stated all threats are taken seriously and will be prosecuted.
