Three Indian films may surpass Dangal’s box office record by 2027, predicts film marketer Varun Gupta.
In February 2026, film marketer Varun Gupta predicted that three upcoming Indian films—Dhurandhar 2, Ramayana Part One, and Varanasi—could surpass Aamir Khan’s Dangal as India’s highest-grossing film by 2027.
Dangal, which earned ₹2070 crore worldwide after its 2017 release in China and Hong Kong, has held the record for nearly nine years.
Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, is set for March 19, 2026, while Ramayana Part One, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, is scheduled for Diwali 2026.
Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, is set for April 7, 2027.
Gupta cited strong production, global marketing, and audience anticipation as key factors that could help these films exceed Dangal’s record.
