NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander invests in Hamilton’s renamed TD Coliseum, his hometown arena, as part of a major renovation and economic boost.
NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has become a part owner of Hamilton’s TD Coliseum, the renamed 18,000-seat arena formerly known as Copps Coliseum, through a personal investment.
The move, announced by Oak View Group, marks a significant commitment to his hometown, where he grew up, and aligns with his desire to boost the city’s economic and cultural growth.
The $300-million renovation completed in November rebranded the venue, and Gilgeous-Alexander will have the Ares Atrium named in honor of his son.
He aims to expand the arena’s role in hosting major music and live events.
The investment follows his 2025 honors in Hamilton, including the key to the city and a street named after him after the Thunder’s NBA championship.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
