The case stems from allegations that WhatsApp’s policy allowed data sharing with Meta without adequate user consent, raising concerns about privacy and anti-competitive practices.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has been allowed to join the case, and the Supreme Court will issue an interim order on the next hearing date.
