Filipino BC plans a cultural and affordable housing center in South Vancouver, near SkyTrain, after community consultation and with support from landowners.
Filipino BC has announced plans for a Filipino Community and Cultural Centre with affordable housing on a 3.12-acre site at 396 Southwest Marine Drive in South Vancouver, near the Marine Drive SkyTrain station.
The project, replacing a prior industrial development, includes a 100,000-square-foot cultural centre with facilities for arts, education, childcare, seniors, and sports, alongside affordable housing.
The proposal, developed after two years of community consultation, seeks rezoning of the industrial-zoned land and is supported by landowner Hungerford Properties.
It aligns with transit-oriented development goals and responds to growing community needs, including after the April 2025 Lapu Lapu Day attack.
Filipino BC is pursuing funding and community input, while another cultural centre proposal in Mount Pleasant remains under review.
