EPFO to launch UPI-linked app in April 2026 for faster PF withdrawals, reducing manual claims.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) plans to launch a mobile app in April 2026, enabling its 8 crore subscribers to withdraw EPF funds directly to bank accounts via UPI, with trials underway using 100 dummy accounts.
The app will allow users to view eligible balances and complete secure transactions using their UPI PIN, reducing reliance on manual claim filings.
While existing platforms like the UAN portal and UMANG app will continue, the new system aims to streamline access for emergencies like medical treatment, education, or housing, and improve efficiency amid over 5 crore annual claims.
The EPFO, which lacks a banking license, is modernizing services as part of broader reforms ahead of new Labour Codes, including single-window offices and Suvidha Providers to assist users.
