Edo police arrested three suspects in the Jan. 2 kidnapping of Dr. Abu Babatunde, whose brother was killed and who was released Jan. 15 after a ₦50 million ransom.
Edo State police have arrested three suspects in connection with the January 2, 2026, kidnapping of Dr. Abu Babatunde in Auchi, where his brother was killed.
The suspects—Saminu Kawujie, Idris Abubakar, and Sani Abubakar—were apprehended following intelligence-led operations involving local hunters and vigilantes.
Kawujie was arrested on February 3 with weapons and cash; Abubakar and Sani were caught on February 8 at a hospital, with Abubakar identified as the ransom recipient.
Dr. Babatunde was released on January 15 after a ₦50 million ransom was paid.
Police are continuing efforts to dismantle the criminal network behind the abduction.
